Youth/Adult Class

This new class is a beginning sailing class designed for youth 10 to 17 and adults (parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, etc.) 19 to infinity.  It is a 15-hour class taught on either a 22-foot Catalina or a 23-foot Sonar.  Together youth and adults will learn the essential skills of sailing—how to steer a boat to a course, adjust sails for different points of sail, execution of sailing maneuver, such as tacking and jibing.  Additionally they’ll learn several common sailing knots useful in everyday life, rules of the road on inland waters and water safety.

The class will be conducted on weekdays or weekends based on the preferences of the students.  Weekday classes would run Monday through Friday for 3-hours each day.  The weekend classes will span two weekends, meeting Saturday and Sunday on both weekends.  Each class will meet for 3 hrs., 45 minutes 

Classes will operate out of Limestone Bay Yacht Club rather than Carrie Gaulbert Cox Park.
