Big Fun In Small Boat Sailing!

Current Conditions

June 27, 2013

Coming soon! The July 4th  Race for the Styrofoam Cup around Twelve Mile Island.

Read on...

The “Styrofoam Cup” around the island race is open to all sailors. All classes of boats have the same start. Everyone that participates will receive a Styrofoam Cup personally engraved by Pat Passafiume.  Burgers and chip will be on the menu at the conclusion of the race.

Sunfish Rally

You don’t know until you get there. Saturday morning’s prediction of the Ohio River current and wind prediction of about five MPH made it seem like a day that would not be fit for sailing the Sunfish Rally.

Upon arriving at the club, the current was there as well as winds blowing at eight to twelve MPH.  These conditions lasted all day. Thirteen Sunfish made their way to the starting line for a great day of racing.  The participants were well matched with all racers finishing within a couple of minutes from the winner of the races. The guys from River City Sailing Community did an incredible job challenging some of the long time sailors on the course.  Two hour on the river and seven races later, most of the sailors endured to the end.  Even though no medals were to be awarded, of those sailors that endured to the end, Cliff Vatter finished first, Jim Wilhelm finished second, and Barry Sander from Bowling Green finished third.

Thanks to all who came and made it a great day.  A big thanks to Ray and Grace Kleinhelter who did a fantastic job running the races, and David Bauer for helping launch and retrieve boat on the dock.

Club Maintenance

Thanks to Tim Allen for painting the exterior of the club house. It looks great!

Thanks to Jim McBee for getting the Committee Boat running and in the water.

Thanks to Jim McBee and Jim Wilhelm for installing the mooring rails and bumper boards on the new pilings.

When securing the Committee Boat do not untie the lines. Use the Carabiner Hooks that are attached to the mooring rings.

The grass is getting tall around a number of boats parked in the middle of the field. Please move them so that our lawn care service can mow in that area. There is room for a number of boats along the fence on the down river side of the club. There are also many slots around the rest of the perimeter of the property.

If you see litter please put it in it place. It is our club. We need to keep the club looking good.

2013 Club Directories

The 2013 Club Directories are in the club house on the ground floor.  Be sure to pick up your copy.  Thanks to Fanny Timmer for putting it together and Tim Allen for printing it.
