Last Week

Saturday, more than a dozen club members arrived early at the club to make the lower level ready for boats.  The crews installed the floating dock, washed all the mud off the concrete, and installed the hoist.  As of this writing, the downstream hoist still needs some electrical attention before it is operational. Thanks to all those who were able to help. (The land mast needs to be installed and the Committee Boat still needs to be launched.)

Memorial Day’s wind forecast was for winds out of the South at nine mile per hour.  At least the forecast was half right.  The wind was more like fifteen with gust to twenty-five.  While the original objective was to sail towards Harrod’s Creek, all sailors found their comfort zone sailing in front of the club.  When the Y Flyer, two Lasers, and six Sunfish docked, most skippers were ready for the Advil.  But, after a few hot dogs and fixings, most were able get in their cars and head to their next destination.
