Big Fun In Small Boat Sailing!

Current Conditions

May 12, 2016

The river forecast is showing that the river will be covering the bottom level Saturday.

Read on...

While there is work that we can do topside, we will not be able to install the hoists and clean the bottom level. Some of you might want to consider postponing your participation in commissioning until next Saturday.

Commissioning Day

Saturday, May 14th, at 9:00 AM the Louisville Sailing Club will have it annual Commissioning Day. Just think, after a long winter, everyone will be able to launch boats soon. One thing that keeps LSC as one of the cheapest and best kept secret in Louisville, is the labor donated by its club members.

Part of everyone's dues is to participate in commissioning and decommissioning the club each year. In case you can not make it on the designated day, find something that needs to be done at the club and DO IT,

The work list is located at the bottom of this edition of Current Conditions. Of course, we need weed eaters and lawn mowers. Bring along your boots as the back field will be wet. The pile of debris at the pylons should be able to be moved without to much difficulty.

Swap Meet

Bring your spare parts Saturday and trade them for something you can use that some one else might bring.

River Cities Community Sailing Program

Part of the Louisville Sailing Club's long range plan is to have a program for junior sailors. One of the easiest ways to accomplish this is to partner with a group that is already offering a junior sailor program. The River Cities Community Sailing Program (RCCSP) is preparing for another season of teaching new sailors through their youth and adult programs. These programs continue to be very popular in promoting the sport of sailing and serving as a next-step, membership source for the entire Kentuckiana sailing community.

In 2016, they will again be offering beginning and intermediate level sailing instructions. Most of the program will be moving from Cox's Park to the LSC facility.

As with any sailing organization, there is a need for help of instructors and people to help with program. If you would be will to participate, contact George Lucas.

President (I), River Cities Community Sailing Program (RCCSP)
